If you only knew what's been going on...

Dear Early to Rise Reader,

It is - by far - the boldest, most adventurous, scariest proposition we've ever made to our list.

In fact, to my knowledge, it has never been done before.

Because of that, we decided it would be best to "test the waters" before we told you about our new plan to help you become wildly successful and rich.

So, quietly and discreetly, we've been working with a handful of your fellow Early to Rise readers. We told them all about this new program. We gave them a sneak preview at this bold, un-heard of new promise. We peeled back the curtain and even let some of them get their hands on the program before anyone else did.

This thing is going to totally redefine how people make money online. It is going to make current online money-making tactics and practices seem like clumsy, antiquated machines.

Would you drive a Model T Ford across the country when you could make the same trip in a private jet? I wouldn't either.

Let me ask you something...

Have you ever secretly hoped that things would finally "just work out"? I mean, doesn't it get frustrating hitting your head against the wall, wondering if it will ever give way and things will finally come together for you?

Believe me, I've been there and know how frustrating it can be.

  • What if I told you that we cracked the code and make it virtually impossible for you to fail?
  • What if I could hand you the key to your future and guarantee you that it would open any door you wanted?
  • What if you could finally break through the rat race, tear down the walls between you and success, and really start living the life of your dreams?
  • What if...

Finally, you can stop wondering what it would be like, because that golden key is real. The wall isn't even there anymore... we've taken it down and cut a clear path to your success and profits. We've unraveled the mysteries behind making money online.

And tomorrow, we are going to tell you all about it.

Haven't you waited long enough for success? I think you have. Tomorrow, you're going to start a new life... the life you've been dreaming about for years. It's finally here.

Check your email in the morning and I'll give you full details.

Oh, one last thing... Here's what a few people are already saying about the program. It's really quite amazing...

"The Best Money I Have Ever Spent"

"The Internet Money Club is quite possibly the best money I have ever spent... I've spent 10 years trying to launch a business, but until I got into the Internet Money Club, I had no idea how to monitize my passion, my ideas. In the future, the sky is the limit."

- PJ McClure, Bolivar, MO

"A Mentor At My Side Every Day"

"I knew doing an online business on my own would be a financial disaster and take forever because I just didn't know enough. I needed someone to guide me through. I started out buying a couple of courses on how to build a business, but that still didn't tell me exactly how to handle everything. I needed a lot more hand-holding than that. And that is what the Internet Money Club gave me - a mentor at my side every day, every time I needed help, Brian was there."

- Pete Genot, Sylvania, OH

"I'm finally on my way to a profitable Internet business!"

"The key has been that Brian doesn't just show you the "what" and "how" in great detail - he also tells you the "why". "

- Kerry Beckwith, Phoenix, AZ

To Your Success,

The Good News About Being the Bearer of Bad News
By Michael Masterson

Good leaders handle bad news quickly and personally.

Step 1: They make an immediate assessment of what went wrong, the extent of the problem or damage, and the causes.

Step 2: They put in place a temporary solution to stem the blood flow, and set a schedule for follow-up remediation.

Step 3: They notify the parties that are directly affected. Superiors should be notified almost immediately -- certainly within 24 hours, but after the first two steps have been completed. Employees should be notified next. And if the bad news impacts them, customers, too, should be notified.

I nearly fired a promising young executive -- several times, in fact -- because he was so reluctant to tell me bad news. He never volunteered negative information. He'd wait until I heard about it some other way and asked him about it. He gave me honest answers. And he'd always taken the first two steps I mentioned above. But the mere fact that he didn't have the nerve to tell me about a problem made me uneasy. We talked about it several times. And he's better at delivering bad news now. That's good for me and good for his career.

Any business leader can look good when things are going smoothly and profits are climbing. It's how you handle yourself when things go wrong that defines your character.

Why You Don't Need To Be an Author to Have a Bestselling Book

A Florida martial arts expert "found" a dusty old book. Then he turned it into estimated sales of over $20,000 in one month. With another book, he's pulled in over $332,250.

A 30-something Internet marketer used the same formula to dig up his own bestseller. The little-known art book he found made $19,453 in just 3 weeks.

These books weren't first editions. They weren't famous. They weren't wildly popular. Best of all? These hidden treasure troves don't have to cost you a penny.

You could unearth the next bestseller. Find out how right here.

Making Money With a Small, Responsive List
By Brian T. Edmondson

If you have an online business, you've probably come across the expression "The money is in the list." This refers to the database of names, e-mail addresses, and other information you collect from customers and prospects.

Building a list is the core principle behind the Early to Rise Model of Internet Marketing. And, all other things being equal, the bigger your list, the more money you will make.

That's great for marketers and list owners who have thousands, tens of thousands, and even hundreds of thousands of subscribers. But what if you are just getting started? Can you make money with a small list?

The answer to that question is a resounding yes.

In fact, I've done it myself. I built a small list (about 5,000 subscribers) that generated six figures yearly. And with another list of only about 1,200 subscribers, I generated over $15,000 in sales in one month.

It wasn't difficult. I simply drove traffic to my website and captured the names and e-mail addresses of my visitors. Then I sent them follow-up e-mails with quality content and relevant sales promotions.

Just to give you a frame of reference, most online marketers will tell you that if you can earn an average of $1 per subscriber per month, you are doing well. So if I had generated about $1,200 in sales from my 1,200 subscribers, that would have been par for the course. The $15,000 I actually generated is more than 10 times the industry average.

I was able to do it because size isn't the only thing that determines how much money you can make with a list. The responsiveness of the list is a key factor.

Responsiveness refers to the number of people who open your e-mails and take the action you want them to take -- by subscribing to your newsletter, for example, or making a purchase.

One of best ways to increase the responsiveness of your list is to develop a relationship with your subscribers. The easier you make it for them to know, like, and trust you, the more likely they will be to open your e-mails and click on your links.

So how, exactly, do you develop a relationship with the people on your list?

Get personal!

When you write copy for your website or for an e-mail that you'll be sending to your list, write it as if you were having a conversation with your reader, face to face. And look for ways to incorporate your personal story and your personality into the copy.

I make my websites and e-letters personal by keeping my readers updated on where I am and what I'm doing. I also share information about my background, such as the fact that I'm a Penn State grad. (Go Lions!) And I share my opinions on current events.

The bond this creates is extremely powerful.

You've probably noticed that Michael Masterson constantly shares information about his life and travels with his ETR readers. (And keep in mind that Early to Rise started as a personal letter from Michael Masterson to a few of his colleagues.)

Start your e-mails with a quick personal update. Then go into your content or sales message. On your website, the "About" page is a great place for your personal background information. Include a picture, or pictures, of yourself (especially on the home page) to help put a face to the name. You could even have videos.

People frequently come up to me at events and tell me that they remember me because of something I mentioned in my e-mails or on my website -- something completely unrelated to business. And customers often tell me that the reason they purchased something from me was not because of the offer, but because they felt like they actually got to know me as a real human being.

Getting personal can help you and your website stand out in a cold and crowded digital world. While it's true that "the money is in the list," you'll quickly discover that there is more money in your relationship with the people on that list.

[Ed. Note: As Internet marketing expert Brian T. Edmondson says, it IS possible to make serious money online, even if your e-mail list is still small. In fact, Brian, Director of ETR's Internet Money Club, can show you how to start making money -- even if you have no list at all. Find out more about IMC -- and Brian's incredible "make money with your business or get your money back" guarantee -- here.]

The Relaxation Technique That Eases Stress in Seconds

You're stuck in a boring meeting... a long line at the bank... or bumper-to-bumper traffic. Your blood pressure is rising. Your stress is through the roof...

But with one unconventional (and often misunderstood) technique, your frustration, anxiety, and stress will simply slip away. You'll feel peaceful, in control, and happy within seconds. Any time. Anywhere.

A Guaranteed Way to Capture the Attention of Prospects

By Perry Marshall

One of the greatest mistakes companies make is developing products based on a "great idea."

My friend and fellow consultant Rob Olic used to be Marketing Director for Small Business Development at the Wharton School. Every week, entrepreneurs would tell him, "Man, my company developed this exciting new product that's so good, it sells itself. I've got a warehouse full of these things. Can you help me get rid of them?"

Great ideas are a dime a dozen. But even if they're well-executed, that doesn't mean they'll be successful in the marketplace. Winning products and marketing messages talk to people about things they're already wanting and thinking about. They address irritations that have been lurking under the surface. They solve problems that have been keeping people up at night.

Several years ago, I was working with a company whose "great idea" was the scheduled delivery of household products. The idea was that just when you were about to run out of something like Kleenex or vitamins or peanut butter, the service would replenish your supply. It was a convenience for customers and an automatic revenue stream for the company.

It looked promising. But nobody loses sleep because they might run out of toilet paper or shaving cream. Nobody even thinks about it. So it was a great idea from a salesman's point of view, but not from the customer's. And it was a flop.

I, and a lot of other people, lost money in that business. Why did it fail? Because the idea had nothing to do with a conversation that was already going on in customers' heads. It didn't harmonize with what they were already thinking about.

Marketing on the Internet is a good example of what I'm talking about.

Search engines give us a powerful -- and free -- way to obtain new customers. If someone types a specific phrase into a search engine and your product comes up in the first few results, it's free advertising. I've gotten boatloads of quality leads this way.

But it's not as simple as throwing some information on a website and waiting for the orders to start coming in. There has to be a precise match between the words your prospect is typing in and the content on your website. It requires you to know exactly what your customers are looking for. The phrase they type into Yahoo! or Google is part of the conversation inside their head. Tap into that conversation and your product will sell.

Become a Creative Thinker in 15 Minutes a Day
By Michael Masterson

Developing the ability to think creatively, as with any other skill, is largely a matter of habit. Practicing daily is the best way to do it.

Give yourself 15 minutes a day -- early in the morning or late at night. The only things you need are a problem to work on, a pad of paper, a pencil, and a quiet place to sit.

Begin by listing, as rapidly as you can, all the ordinary and obvious possible solutions. Even those you know in your heart won't succeed. Then draw up a second, shorter, list of more innovative ideas. Try to come up with at least two or three. Finally, select the idea that seems best and list its strengths and weaknesses.

The entire process shouldn't take more than 15 minutes. And if you invest 15 minutes a day in this sort of problem solving, you'll be amazed at how good you get at it.

What Do You Do When You're Stressed Out?
By Michael Masterson

If you live in a state of perpetual stress, your health (and your waistline) may be at risk. High stress is a risk factor for heart disease, cancer, and a variety of other health concerns. And it can make you crave sweets, which only makes your health problems worse.

A recent study examined two groups of people. One group was stressed and the other wasn't. But both had access to four bowls of snacks: potato chips, nuts, grapes, and M&Ms. All the participants ate the same amount of chips and nuts. But those who were stressed consumed five times more M&Ms and four times fewer grapes.

Why so many M&Ms? Probably for the same reason that people who are depressed crave sweets: High-carb foods increase serotonin, the feel-good neurotransmitter. However, while sweets might improve your mood temporarily, they won't reduce stress.

The best way to manage stress? Exercise. A study performed in Denmark recently showed that those who exercise for 15 to 20 minutes a day are 61 percent less likely to feel highly stressed than people who are sedentary.

The Language Perfectionist: If You Love Words of Wisdom...

By Don Hauptman

Mardy Grothe, a friend and fellow language enthusiast, specializes in creating collections of great quotations. Within each of his books, all the quoted passages share a unifying theme.

His latest work, just published, is called Ifferisms. What's an ifferism? The word is Mardy's own coinage. It's an aphorism that begins with the word "if."

A surprisingly large number of quotations follow this format. In his book, Mardy has assembled almost 2,000 and organized them into chapters. The topics range from politics to sports, and from business to sex. Among those quoted are Woody Allen, Dale Carnegie, Winston Churchill, Walt Disney, Thomas Jefferson, Stephen King... and hundreds of others.

In epigrams and proverbs, the "if" element implies that things might be different than they are. It suggests the conditional, the hypothetical, the imaginative. Thus, many sentiments phrased in this manner are positive, uplifting, and inspirational. "I have come to believe," Mardy writes in the Introduction, "that if is the biggest little word in the English language."

To support that assertion, here are a few examples from Ifferisms:

  • "If you are able to state a problem, it can be solved." -- Edwin H. Land
  • "If you're going to be thinking anyway, you might as well think big." -- Donald Trump
  • "If you are guided by opinion polls, you are not practicing leadership -- you are practicing followership." -- Margaret Thatcher
  • "If you think health care is expensive now, wait until you see what it costs when it's free." -- P.J. O'Rourke
  • "If a man empties his purse into his head, no man can take it away from him. An investment in knowledge always pays the best interest." -- Benjamin Franklin

But the most famous example is surely Rudyard Kipling's poem, "If." Mardy calls it "one long ifferism... a magnificent tribute to many of humankind's great virtues...." I remember reading this classic as a child. I hope it's still taught in schools, and hasn't been replaced by studies of hip-hop music and graffiti. Here's an excerpt:

If you can force your heart and nerve and sinew
To serve your turn long after they are gone,
And so hold on when there is nothing in you
Except the Will which says to them: "Hold on"....

Kipling's "If" was first published in 1910, so this coming year marks its 100th anniversary.

Unlike most anthologies, Ifferisms goes beyond telling us what was said and who said it. Mardy often adds commentary on the meaning and background of each passage, biographical facts about its author, notes about related quotations, and more.

You probably won't endorse every observation in this book. I disagreed with some of them. But you're bound to find Ifferisms provocative -- and you might even discover something that changes your life.

Of course, this review has to end on an "if" note. So...

If your gift list this year includes people who are literate and literary, who appreciate the power and rhythm and meaning of the written word, Ifferisms is the perfect stocking stuffer.

Reducing Stress Is Worthwhile
By Michael Masterson

The most effective way to reduce stress is to find an efficient way to deal with the problem or challenge that's causing it.

If a new client is a royal pain, figure out how to handle him or pass him off to a competitor. If a new set of regulations is making your routine work difficult, master them.

It's not the nature of the task or the length of it that creates stress. It's the lack of knowing how to do it. Ultimately, stress is caused by ignorance and confusion.

That said, understand that a growing business will always create stress. That's because growth means change and change means new and new means unfamiliarity. (And you know what unfamiliarity means: ignorance and confusion.)

There may come a time when you will want to run a zero-stress business. It will be when you...

  • Have made all the money you want to make
  • Have accomplished all the business objectives you've set for yourself
  • And you are in a position to slow down a little bit and enjoy the world's blessings.

But right now, you probably aren't ready for that. You are more than likely still in the growth-and-acquisition phase, the wealth-building part of your life. If that's the case, you need to accept the reality that stress will be with you for many years to come -- and learn to handle it. All you have to do is realize that stress is caused by lack of knowledge and that lack of knowledge can be easily cured.

Why Religion As You Know It Doesn't Have the Answers

Most religions promise the keys to happiness, fulfillment, and purpose. The solutions are there. But over the years, these useful and life-changing tenets have become weak... distorted... and diluted. They have lost their original power.

This leads to frustration for people who simply want answers. But there's good news. Scholar and philosopher Srikumar Rao has translated dozens of the most powerful secrets from ancient traditions. He's made them useful... practical... easy to understand... And easy to apply to YOUR life.

How to Find a Guru
By Paul Lawrence

My heart pounded. A great opportunity was staring me in the face.

I'd been introduced to a publisher who had made big money by marketing information products. At least, it was big money to me. I can't tell you the precise amount, because I was sworn to secrecy. But I can tell you that we're talking millions of dollars.

I knew that if I came up with the right product, I could make a killing by licensing it to this guy.

I had been successful with licensing deals before. For example, I wrote a program about small-business entrepreneurship and licensed it to a major marketer who turned it into a bestseller. After that, the royalties kept pouring in.

Writing that program wasn't hard for me. A small-business entrepreneur is what I've been my whole life. All I did was share the secrets I'd used myself and had coached other people to use.

But this publisher was looking for a program that could help "average Joe" investors get rich. And while I'd made a few modestly profitable investments, I just wasn't qualified to create the product he wanted.

I didn't want to let this opportunity pass me by.

"Surely, there is someone out there with the expertise, talent, and time to do this," I thought. So I set out to find that "someone" -- a "guru," if you will, with experience in writing about investing. My plan was to offer my guru a significant percentage of the profits, essentially making him my partner.

I started my search for a writer.

I sifted through financial publications. I surfed the Internet. And, yes, I did find some people -- published authors -- with impressive credentials.

But... none of those people had the slightest interest in my deal. They told me to come back when I was prepared to write a sizable advance check.

Frankly, this was stumbling block. It's not the way I operate. I never invest a lot of money to start a business. The only business ventures I get into are those that require little or no upfront capital.

It occurred to me that I'd been approaching the wrong people. I should have been looking for someone with an entrepreneurial mindset -- someone who would be willing to accept some risk in return for a greater reward down the line. So I revised my approach.

Here are the steps I took to find my guru:

1. Identify Likely Candidates

I realized that I needed an active investor, not necessarily a "writer." And I suspected that someone who was highly successful in investing, but had never shared his system, might be interested.

I began networking and asking for recommendations. It took a little effort, but I came up with a few good leads.

2. Make a Preliminary Case

To "sell" my prospects on my deal, I met with each one.

I had never licensed a financial program, but I had been successful with other types of instructional programs. So I was able to give my prospects "related proof" that I could make this deal worthwhile for them.

First, I showed them how much I had made in the past by licensing instructional programs. Then, I showed them that the publisher who was interested in this new investing program had made huge profits by marketing financial information products. Finally, I was able to demonstrate that I was in contact with him and had a reasonable shot at a licensing agreement.

My prospects connected the dots. They could see the potential.

3. Close the Deal

I scheduled a follow-up meeting with the one who had the most to offer buyers of the program. (He also happened to be the one I thought would be the easiest to work with.)

To give him an idea of what he needed to do, I showed him the program I had written on entrepreneurship. I also made an effort to present myself as a trustworthy and "au fait" partner. And I appealed to his ego by pointing out how great I would make him feel to have his name on a top-notch instructional program.

Needless to say, the allure of the financial and emotional rewards were too much for him to resist. By the end of that meeting, I had signed my "guru."

The rest is history. He created an excellent program that I had no trouble licensing to the publisher. And I ended up netting about $50,000 on a project I worked on for about 100 hours. In other words, I made about $500 an hour.

There are many advantages to using a guru to help you develop information products.

For one thing, you're not limited to subjects you personally know about. You can branch out where he has expertise. And if he is taking care of the creative end of the business, that frees up your time for marketing. Plus, if you use your guru as I suggest -- making him your partner -- you can launch your own information publishing business with little to no capital.

If you've been considering starting an Internet business, you should give serious thought to this one.

[Ed. Note: You don't need to be an expert in anything in order to produce products that you can license. All you need to do is find the right "guru." How to find that guru is one of the important secrets that Paul Lawrence reveals in his audio program, "Rights Acquisition System." For more information on this program, click here.]

A Cost That Most Property Buyers Overlook
By Michael Masterson

When buying a property, many people completely overlook transaction costs. These include:

  • Points and fees for the loan
  • Escrow and title insurance
  • Inspection fees
  • Attorney fees
  • Commissions
  • Additional "garbage" fees that lenders and escrow agencies tend to throw in

If you're not careful, they can easily add up to more than you're prepared to spend.

Your total closing costs as a buyer should usually be between 2 and 3 percent of the value of the property. Get all quotes in writing. And get a Good Faith Estimate (GFE) from your lender before you commit to a loan. Okay the estimate before you pay an application fee. Make sure taxes and impact fees are correct. Be fair, but negotiate whenever possible. You could realize considerable savings.

The Power of a Handwritten Note
By Michael Masterson

Handwritten notes are much more effective than typed memos or e-mails for all sorts of occasions. Just two: praising subordinates or sending a special thank you to a colleague or partner. Keep a set of high-quality personalized note cards in your desk. And make it a point to write a few brief notes each week. The time it will take is negligible, and the impact it can make is immeasurable.

"ramp it up"! But duplicating the steps involved
in getting traffic can be expensive and very time
consuming - Here's another word:

Wrong!

Yes, they used to be - but that was before the Zipper...

When You Make a Deal, Be Clear About the Intent
By Michael Masterson

Whenever you make an important deal, quickly follow up with a short memo. Identify what you think is the "spirit" of the deal, the big picture. Do this whether the deal comes with a written contract or is simply a verbal agreement.

Doing so will prevent a great deal of trouble and heartache in your career. You'll avoid arguments, prevent embarrassment, and save yourself a lot of money.

-----------------------------------------------------Highly Recommended -----------------------------------------------------

Wasting Time at Work? - With success mentor Bob Cox, you'll learn how to eliminate procrastination and busywork. To be truly successful, says Bob, you must learn to identify and work toward only your most important goals. And do so in an efficient, streamlined way. Let him show you how...

Three Sentences That Saved Our Business
By Julie Broad

Have you ever been writing an e-mail or a report -- pouring your heart and soul into each and every word -- when, POOF, it vanishes? Maybe it was a computer glitch or a wrong keystroke. Either way, your work is gone. And you can't retrieve it.

Well, imagine if you'd been working on that document for nearly two years! Imagine if you'd been investing every moment of your spare time in it.

That's how I felt when I learned about the policies of our new e-mail service provider.

My husband and I had to switch providers because we'd outgrown the free system we had started with. (We were using it to send out our real estate investment newsletter.) But because the old company didn't have the same opt-in requirements as the new one, they refused to allow us to import our list of names and e-mail addresses.

We had spent nearly two years building that list. And while it was only 700 names, we felt deeply connected with each and every one. We loved getting our newsletter out to our subscribers. We wrote about the mistakes we'd made when we started in real estate. And we shared the secrets we used to build a million-dollar portfolio.

We always dreamed of turning that newsletter into a business. And, as you know, the list is the lifeblood of every online information publishing business.

I credit much of the growth of our list -- and our business -- to Early to Rise, specifically the Internet Money Club. The IMC's Director, Brian Edmondson, had helped me create a website (www.revnyou.com) and add names to our list through such things as article marketing and Google Adwords.

As I said, our list had grown to nearly 700 names. And we were about to collect our first $500 check from an affiliate sale AND $150 from Google! The business was just starting to make money... and we were about to lose everything.

Frustrated, I wrote Brian a splenetic e-mail.

I admit, I was a bit annoyed because this disaster was hitting us because Brian had insisted we change providers. His reasoning? The system we were using didn't allow us to track our results. We had no idea which ads were working, which e-mails generated sales, or where our new subscribers REALLY came from. Brian figured, correctly, that for our business to have any potential to make real money, we needed those stats.

Brian responded immediately. And he gave me very specific yet simple advice. He'd had a similar experience and knew exactly what to say to the company to get them to change their mind. I don't remember his exact words. But I do remember it was literally three sentences. That's it.

Thanks to those three sentences, we were able to save our 700 names. Even better, because of the new system, we can measure and monitor our business effectively. We never spend a penny without knowing what it's doing for us.

Now, thanks to Brian's continued coaching and tips from Early to Rise, our list is 4,000 names strong and growing! I'm selling my own real estate investing program. And the affiliate checks come in on a regular basis. Considering it took us over two years to get to 700 names, to be at 4,000 names -- and nearly $40,000 in revenue -- six months later is incredible. And we couldn't have done it without Brian.

That's the thing about working with someone who has been there. Everything is a little easier, goes a little faster, and is a lot less frustrating!

But finding a mentor or a good program to learn from is not as simple as grabbing onto the first one you hear about. As I said in "The Problem With Fire," you have to think about where you want to go. Then, you have to figure out how you're going to fill the gap between where you are and where you want to be. If you're going to do it with the help of a mentor, you have to find someone who is STILL active in your niche or industry, doing what you want to do.

In my case, Brian's advice was spot on. Not only because he's already been where we are today, but because he continues to build profitable businesses on the Web. He wasn't telling me what worked a few years ago. He was telling me what he had to do a few months earlier when he had a similar problem.

Brian continues to encounter new challenges and learn new tricks. And he passes them on to me and the other IMC members.

And it's not just Brian who has helped me out. Several members of the ETR team have given me a helping hand here and there.

Edwin Huertas gave me a search engine optimization tip that took about 10 minutes to implement. And now I'm showing up on the first page of Google search results for certain keywords. Suzanne Richardson gave me writing tips that have helped me communicate my ideas more clearly. Jessica Kurrle made a few fantastic suggestions for testing different price points and making revisions to improve the user experience. And Charlie Byrne made a few tweaks to my sales copy that improved our sales conversions by at least 10 percent.

All of these things would have taken me months, if not years, to figure out on my own. But with the help of Brian and the rest of my mentors at ETR, I drastically reduced my learning curve.

P.S. The key to success in business, including the "go it alone" online world, is a mentor who can help you achieve your goals by sharing their experience. Brian Edmondson, Director of the Internet Money Club, is the real deal. He's had plenty of success online -- but still runs several businesses. More important, he has a genuine interest in helping others follow in his footsteps. Find out more about Brian, and the Internet Money Club, here.

-----------------------------------------------------Highly Recommended -----------------------------------------------------

"But I'm not a writer" - As an Internet entrepreneur, you have to learn to recognize effective sales copy -- if not write it yourself. Bad copy is just too dangerous for your business. But even if you're not a "writer," you can learn the secrets of profit-producing copy. And why not let master copywriters John Forde and ETR's own Charlie Byrne be your teachers? Read more...

Getting Physical

By Andrew Gordon
Investor's Daily Edge, Senior Investment Director

Here's something you didn't know about gold...

  • Hong Kong has asked London to return its gold.
  • Middle East countries, too, want to get their gold back from London.
  • Germany wants the U.S. to return its gold.
  • And large money managers are demanding physical gold bullion (as opposed to paper contracts).

What does it mean?

IDE's Rusty McDougal says there's a shortage of gold. And that shortage is pushing the price of gold up now and into the foreseeable future.

So, yes, you should buy gold -- but not through ETFs (like GLD). They could well be suffering their own shortages. If they have a run on gold (like banks can have a run on their deposits), you could be out of luck if you're not at the front of the line.

Instead, buy physical gold. Rusty says it's the only gold you can trust. You can buy it online. Or you can look up brokers who specialize in selling physical gold and get it from them.

The 7-Minute Heart Test
By Michael Masterson

Your heart rate is an indicator of your cardiovascular fitness. How quickly it slows down after exercise is an important measurement.

To measure your heart's recovery rate, says Dr. Al Sears in his book The Doctor's Heart Cure, exercise vigorously for five minutes and then take your pulse. Wait two minutes. Then calculate your heart rate again.

If you have an average level of fitness, it will drop by 55 beats. Well-conditioned people will see a higher drop, perhaps 70 beats. Generally, the faster you recover, the better your fitness and the lower your risk of heart disease.

Gratitude Is Good for Business
By Michael Masterson

If you were raised right, you never fail to say "thank you" for a courtesy or favor. But do you thank your customers when they favor you with an order? Always?

It's surprising how many businesses fail to do this. (I was reminded of it today when I opened a sample product package sent to me by one of my clients. There were two up-sells enclosed. But no thank you.)

A simple note -- personalized, if possible -- goes a long way toward ensuring customer loyalty. In some cases, it can be as important as the quality of your product.

(Be sure to include your customer service number and address.)

3 things you DON'T need to become wealthy

Dear ETR Reader,

Gaining great wealth doesn't depend on advance education... Or being born into the "right" family... Or even finding yourself at the right place at the right time.

Instead, wealth is simply a matter of waking up to a few crucially important realities. As soon as you start recognizing and using these tools, your financial situation could rapidly and radically improve.

World thought leader, training expert and author Chris Howard understands these facts about wealth. He believes that success leaves "clues"... and if you can learn to recognize these clues, you can quickly achieve your own personal, business, and financial success.

Chris has studied all the clues and the people who left them. He's dug deep into what it takes to be wealthy in the truest sense of the word. He's uncovered the critical elements he claims you must know... and, more importantly, the crucial actions you must take.

And, now he'd like to share what he's learned with you...

Chris is about to release his next book Instant Wealth: Wake Up Rich Discovering the Secrets of the New Entrepreneurial Mind.

Now, the book is not officially available until December 7... But Chris has offered ETR readers a special insider VIP preview of his book before the general public has access to it.

Plus, he's got some "surprises" (he's valued them at between $128.95 and $1,234.65!) planned for people who snap up a copy... Take a look at Chris's short video here.

Go ahead and check it out. The video promises to be enlightening in itself... and you'll find out how to get VIP access to Chris's book.

Best Regards,
Jessica Kurrle
Associate Publisher, Early to Rise

P.S. Chris wanted me to pass on something important... When you get the book, immediately go to Chapter 2 called "The Unbreakable Rule Every Massively Rich Person Knows and the Rest of the World Doesn't." It starts with a quote from a daytime TV queen that will begin your shift to the mindset you need to create instant wealth for yourself. Click here to learn more.

What to Think About If You Want to Succeed
By Michael Masterson

If you want to be truly successful, you can't spread your energy and intelligence too thin. You must devote your time and attention to a limited number of things. You must strive -- as best you can -- to live in the real world.

Studies show that happy people live in the here and now. They pay attention to the people around them rather than the people they read about or see on television. They deal with problems that confront them directly rather than those that exist -- if they exist at all -- somewhere else.

Successful people, as we've seen from countless examples, achieve the things they achieve by solving specific real problems and creating real products. When challenged by something highly unlikely or far in the future, they tend to reply, "Why don't we handle that if and when it happens?"

Take a survey of your thinking. How much of it is devoted to events and situations (1) of which you have no personal knowledge or (2) over which you have no control? Compare that to the time you spend solving real problems and dealing with real people. Make sure the balance is heavily on the side of reality.

Creating Your Own Security
By Brian Tracy

Throughout most of history, people have been accustomed to gradual progress. Sometimes change was faster, and sometimes it was slower. But it always seemed to move in a straight line. This made the future fairly predictable.

Today, however, the rate of change is not only faster than ever, it is spasmodic. It is taking place in a variety of areas and affecting us in unexpected ways.

Changes in information processing are happening separately from changes in medicine, changes in transportation, changes in education, changes in politics, and changes in global competition. Changes in family relationships are happening separately from the rise and fall of new industries.

If anything, the rate of this desultory change is increasing. As a result, most of us are already suffering from what sociologist Alvin Toffler called "Future Shock."

You can't do much about what's happening. But you can -- and should -- think seriously about what all this change means in terms of your financial security. To position yourself for an uncertain future, you must do something to ensure that you'll be able to keep earning money... no matter what.

One of the greatest mistakes you can make -- the one with the worst long-term consequences -- is to think only about the present and give very little thought to your ability to make a good living in the years ahead.

In our grandfathers' time, most people stayed with the same company for their entire working lives. For our parents, it was common to change jobs three or four times.

Today, a person entering the workforce can expect to have five careers between the ages of 21 and 65, and 14 full-time jobs lasting two years or more.

According to Fortune magazine, 40 percent of American employees in the 21st century will be "contingency" workers. This means that they will never work permanently for any company. They will continue to move from job to job, earning less money than full-time employees and accruing few, if any, benefits.

Imagine what your job will look like five years from now. Since knowledge in your field is probably doubling every five years, 20 percent of what you know is becoming outdated each year. In five years, you will be doing a completely different job requiring completely different skills.

Ask yourself, "Which of my skills are becoming dated? What am I doing today that is different than what I was doing one year ago and two years ago? What am I likely to be doing five years from now? What knowledge will I need, and how will I acquire it?"

In other words, what is your plan for your financial future?

It costs a company approximately double your salary to employ you -- in terms of their investment in space, benefits, and other resources. And of course, they have to make a profit on top of that. Therefore, what you contribute to your company's bottom line must be considerably greater than the amount you are receiving... or you will find yourself unemployed.

The market pays excellent rewards only for excellent performance. It pays average rewards for average performance, and it pays below average rewards for below average performance.

To earn more, you must learn more. Not only that, what you already know -- your accumulated knowledge and experience -- is becoming obsolete bit by bit, day by day. As I said, knowledge in your field is probably doubling every five years. That means your knowledge must double every five years just for you to stay even.

The solution is continuous self-development.

You must continually add to your knowledge and to your ability to apply that knowledge. Those are your most valuable assets... And only by building on those assets do you keep them from deteriorating. As Pat Riley wrote in his book The Winner Within, "If you are not committed to getting better at what you are doing, you are bound to get worse."

By engaging in continuous self-improvement, you put yourself behind the wheel of your own life. By dedicating yourself to learning more, you are automatically preparing yourself to earn more. You position yourself for tomorrow by developing the knowledge and skills you need to be a valuable and productive part of the economy, no matter which direction it goes in.

[Ed. Note: We are now surrounded by more wealth than at any time in our history. The real question is: How do YOU get in on this abundance? Time Almost Ran Out for This Watch Company

By Andrew Gordon
Senior Investment Director, Investor's Daily Edge

Once upon a time, watches were made only by skilled craftsmen in technologically advanced countries, such as the U.S., Germany, and Switzerland. And they lasted forever.

Then Asia began making watches. They were less accurate and less durable, but had more features (because it was so cheap to include them). And they came in all sizes and shapes.

Almost overnight, companies that made moderately priced to expensive watches lost huge market share. Some didn't survive. Good ol' Timex almost washed out.

But Timex managed to get through the 1970s and 80s, and came back strongly. It now manufactures watches in the Far East in addition to Switzerland, and makes brands (Guess, Nautica, Ecko, Opex, and Versace) in a wide range of prices.

We'll be keeping an eye on companies like Timex -- the survivors. I expect some of the very best of them will be making it into our Sound Profits portfolios, debuting in December.

What Body Language Can Tell You
By Michael Masterson

Body language experts say you can get a good idea of what a person thinks of you by the way he positions his heart and feet when he is with you.

Someone who likes you will tend to position his heart (his chest) toward your chest. As for the feet, where they point indicates where the person connected to them wants to be. If they are pointed in your direction, you are commanding considerable attention. If they are pointed out the door -- well, you get the picture. And if the body is pointed toward you but the feet are pointed away, that indicates (not surprisingly) mixed feelings.

"Increasingly ignorant."

Thanks to Don Hauptman for his article on bloopers in the Nov. 13 issue. It made me smile. It also made me think of another type of blooper. It seems that people are becoming increasingly ignorant of the correct usage of apostrophes.

Just two examples that I've seen on signs posted in my city:

  • From an ad for a bridge climb: "Kid's driving you crazy?" (Which kid, in particular, might that be?)
  • From an ad for real estate: "Wan't street frontage?" (What could "wan't" possibly be short for?)
