Welcome to your first issue of Early to Rise!

By MaryEllen Tribby, Publisher/CEO

We thought you would appreciate getting an overview of everything we believe - a complete picture of ETR's fundamental principles. So, for the next few days, we're going to do something special. We're going to give you a guided tour of "the world according to ETR."

Every morning, you'll receive a message from us. And every one of those messages contains something that might help you become wealthier, something to make you healthier, and a few thoughts, ideas, and suggestions that should make you wiser.

While we don't pretend to have all the answers about everything, we do pride ourselves on writing what we ACTUALLY know about, through experience.

Reading ETR will usually take no more than 5 minutes of your time. These little essays are not meant to be comprehensive (impossible, given their length); they are meant to be provocative.

Our goal is to prompt you to understand something, remember something, realize something, and (ultimately) do something that will make you healthier, wealthier, and even wiser.

Success is a lifetime process. Early to Rise takes a day-at-a-time approach.

"Learn from the past, set vivid, detailed goals for the future,
and live in the only moment of time over which you have
any control: now."

- Denis Waitley

Can 10 Minutes Each Morning Really Change Your Life?

By Michael Masterson

Why should you bother reading Early to Rise every morning?

You're a busy person and you've got other, more important, things to do. And so do I. That's why I've designed ETR to be a quick read - one main message and three or four briefs - that you can read in about 10 minutes flat.

What can 10 minutes do for you? That will be interesting to find out. Take a look at what ETR has done for others, who - just like you - may have wondered at one point whether they could afford to devote 10 minutes of their morning to reading ETR:

  • PH earned an extra $80,000 (and earned even more than that the following year) by following the advice in Message #103.
  • JF followed our patented "chicken entrepreneur's guide to starting your own business" and now has a $125,000-a-year second stream of income.
  • SA used a combination of two ETR marketing secrets to create a $36,000-a-month extra line of income. (And that's on top of the high six-figure income he'd secured using ETR's start-your-own-business system.)
  • RJ has followed ETR's advice on turning himself into "an invaluable employee." Not only has his job become secure for life, his salary has surpassed one million dollars!
  • PP used advice given in Message #396 to raise the income of his part-time real estate investing business to more than $100,000 last year.

Every week, we get letters from readers saying how one of the suggestions we made changed their lives ... how income grew, job satisfaction increased, health improved, productivity doubled, profits boomed, stress was reduced, and so on.

So now, back to you. Can reading ETR change your life?

Yes, it can. I am 100% positive of that. And it doesn't matter where you are in the wealth/health/wisdom food chain. It makes no difference whether you are broke and fat or rich and thin ... ETR can improve your life.

Reading ETR works - not because everything that we say is brilliant, but because every tip we pass along has been proven to work. Nothing we talk about is theoretical. Every observation and recommendation we make comes from personal experience.

Our recommendations may not work for all people at all times, but they have all worked for either me or for someone I know. And if something has worked for someone else, it can work for you too.

Think about some goal you've had for a while. Maybe you'd like to stop doing what you are doing and make a lot of money working at something you care about. Maybe you'd like to develop a side business that relates to sports or entertainment or travel. Whatever it is, we know you can do it.

It's just a matter of following steps that others have taken before you.

So, what's your dream? And what's stopping you from pursuing it? What's keeping you from making $100,000 to $1 million a year doing something you love?

  • What's stopping you from starting your own business?
  • What's stopping you from getting your book published?
  • What's stopping you from losing that weight?

Not ETR.

We are here in your e-mail inbox, waiting for you every morning. Full of good cheer and useful advice, armed with loads of experience and insights. There is nothing we would rather see happen, nothing at all, than to see you succeed.

ETR's purpose is to get you to succeed in life. We can give you the ideas. We can show you how it's done. We can put you in touch with great resources and show you how to build a personal network.

It all begins with 10 minutes a day.

Over the next week, we are going to be talking to you about how you can change your life. First, we will try to inspire you. Then, we will show you how other ETR readers have achieved their goals. And we will give you specifics - the details you need to turn your goals into realities.

As long as you read ETR every morning, you will be doing something definite to make your dreams come true. There won't be breakthroughs every day, but you will always at least be moving forward.

And we will always be here for you with the tools that you can use to construct your own success - news, ideas, and recommendations to make you wealthier, healthier, and wiser ... one day at a time.

For Your Wealth:

I can show you how to get out of debt, get control of your finances, develop financially valuable skills, and begin building your wealth. I can show you how to turn your life around in 24 hours and steadily get richer - by increasing the income you already have ... by adding a second, active source of income ... by investing profitably in real estate and other financial markets ... and by living like a billionaire without spending like one. The ETR program is designed to give you a seven-figure net worth (that is $1 million to $9.9 million) in 7 years or less.

For Your Health:

You don't need to spend hours every day training and keeping to a strict diet to become healthy, fit, agile, and pain-free. You can have great health (and enjoy it) by following the ETR-designed health-and-fitness program for busy professionals. Build muscle by working out (with or without weights) just twice a week for 10-15 minutes each time. Triple your energy and explosiveness in just five minutes a day. Eat like a king - including pretty much all the grassfed lean beef, chicken, fish, nuts, and berries you want (cheese too!) - while you transform fat into muscle.

For Your Wisdom:

We'll help you achieve your personal-growth goals by advising you on how to become a better speaker, writer, thinker, and listener. You'll build your vocabulary ... increase your knowledge of the things that contribute to good living (art, wine, etc.) ... learn how to impress your boss, satisfy your most discerning customers, and charm new acquaintances ... and enjoy more tranquility and simplicity in your life.

You can do all this and more simply by spending 10 minutes with ETR every morning. You don't have to follow all of our suggestions. Just spend a few minutes scanning each daily message, and then five or six minutes paying extra attention to anything that appeals to you.

The greatest tragedy is lost potential. Why waste yours? A better, brighter, fuller, and happier future is at your fingertips. And we are here each morning to help you reach it.

Make a commitment to spend the few minutes it takes to read ETR every day - and to put into action the ideas you discover that will help you achieve your most important goals.

He'd Have Called Them Crazy -- Or Worse!

With the Internet, it's now possible to spend no more than a few dollars, write a couple of very basic ads, and have instant access to millions of potential customers all in a matter of minutes.

If anyone had told Jim Sheridan he could bank thousands in just 24 hours. . . without any product of his own. . . without spending a penny on getting it or promoting it, he'd have justifiably said they were nuts.

But Jim made a decision that he would overcome his skeptical nature and give it a go. Boy, is he glad he did! That one deal alone banked him $187,296 in one day.

The great news is - you can copy Jim's plan exactly. The program is called Instant Internet Income and I guarantee it does exactly what it says it does.

Take a look at how Jim brought in over $175,000 in a single day!

Are These the Most Powerful Marketing Secrets in the World?

By Charlie Byrne

You're about to get an incredible bargain. It's one that could make the difference between decent achievement and extraordinary achievement in your personal and professional lives.

Almost every day, as a protege of Michael Masterson, I read what he writes, I listen to what he says, and sometimes I even try to guess what he's thinking. During the four years that I've been with ETR, I've been able to pick up on some of his most powerful marketing secrets. Now, today, I'm going to give them all to you.

The only catch is that, in this short space, I can only skim over the surface. Entire books could be written on this subject. And, in fact, I think Michael may be doing exactly that in the near future. But until you are able to get your hands on his book, here's a quick look at a dozen of the ultra-powerful sales and marketing concepts he has developed:

  • Intimacy and the Myth of You - Establish a meaningful, personal relationship with your prospect without resorting to tricks (like blindly using the word "you").
  • Transparency - Sell the benefits of your product, not the product itself. In a strong sales pitch, the product fades into the background.
  • The Prism and Core Desire - Know your prospect and his needs in great detail. Intimately understand and empathize with his wants, needs, fears, aspirations, loves, hates, angers, and irritations. What keeps him awake at night?
  • The Myth of Fear and Greed - The prospect's emotions - including those that motivate him to buy - are not limited to the two obvious ones tapped into by a majority of marketers: fear and greed. It is crucial to delve deeper into your prospect and understand the wide range of feelings that influence his decisions.
  • The Four-Legged Stool - Make certain that your prospect believes what you say by incorporating four critical elements that give your marketing copy strength and balance: benefits (particularly deeper benefits), ideas, credibility, and track record.
  • The Velvet Cord - Make your prospect feel like he's part of an exclusive, special group.
  • The Four U's - Make your sales statements (in headlines, subheads, bullets) Urgent, Unique, Useful, and Ultra-specific.
  • The Mutual Enemy - Give your prospect a mutual enemy that he and you both face ... and give him the resources to defeat that enemy.
  • The Theory of Sales Resistance - Though your prospect wants what you have to tell (or sell) him, he resists being "sold." This resistance is often supported by another one of Michael's secrets: "The Categorical Imperative."
  • The Categorical Imperative - The mind has a tendency to simplify new ideas by slipping them into pre-existing slots that it has already created. It does this so it can shift its attention to something else. To circumvent this tendency, strong sales promotions avoid taking a straight-line logical approach. This prevents the prospect from anticipating where the promo is going and keeps him reading.
  • The Full Spectrum of Features and Benefits - While it is important to "sell benefits," it is necessary to understand and use the full spectrum of features, benefits, and deeper benefits.
  • Transubstantiation - In marketing, this is the creative process of imagining and then representing your product or service in such a way that it is bigger, better, and more valuable than it normally appears.

I used one of these secrets (transubstantiation) just this past weekend as the basis of a new marketing campaign that I fully expect to be a breakthrough in my career.

If you'd like to find out more about each of these concepts you can just keep reading ETR.

Know the Truth About Bread

By Al Sears, MD

Every day, I see TV commercials touting the "health benefits" of whole-grain products - especially bread. Our food pyramid is built on a base of grains. And I constantly read advice to eat "low-glycemic whole-grain" foods. Well, if someone has found a low-glycemic whole-grain food, I'd like to see it.

When my research foundation put together our extensive glycemic index, we organized foods that contain carbohydrates by category, from those that raise blood sugar levels the most to those that raise blood sugar levels the least. Notice that the four categories at the top of the index are all grain foods:

  • Highest: Cereals
  • Second-highest: Breads
  • Third-highest: Other grain products
  • Fourth-highest: Pastas
  • Fifth-highest: Desserts
  • Sixth-highest: Fruits

In other words, cereals, breads, pastas, and other grain products generally produce more sugar in your blood than desserts or fruits.

"Wholesome" whole-wheat bread has a glycemic score of 80 - twice that of ice cream, apples, or peaches!

The bottom line: Whole-grain bread spikes your blood sugar the same as white bread does. And high-glycemic foods make you fat and accelerate aging. (Increasing body fat is one of the markers of aging.)

Adding fuel to the fire, all grains contain proteins called lectins. These cause inflammation and lead to problems like arthritis and chronic fatigue - two more problems of aging.

To reduce the effects of aging, do as I have and ditch the grains. Get the fiber you need from fruits and vegetables.

It's Good to Know: 10 Ways to Save Money on Gas

From The Denver Post:

1. Lighten up. Leadfooting at 75 miles per hour instead of 65 will cut your fuel economy by 10%.

2. Avoid the rush hour. Plan trips or stagger your work hours to minimize stop-and-go traffic, which burns more gas than going at a steady speed.

3. Take a load off. Carrying an extra 100 pounds in the trunk cuts fuel economy by 1%.

4. Use your overdrive. If you have a manual transmission, shift up as soon as possible.

5. Keep an eye on your tire pressure. For every 3 pounds below the recommended tire pressure, fuel economy drops about 1%.

6. Keep your car tuned up. A clogged air filter can cut mileage by as much as 20%; a faulty oxygen sensor can cut it by up to 40%.

7. Use the most efficient grade of oil for your car. Using 10W-30 in an engine designed for 5W-30 can cut mileage by 1% to 2%.

8. Use regular gasoline unless your owner's manual says otherwise. High-octane fuel won't improve performance in cars that don't require it.

9. Park in the shade. Fuel evaporates more quickly in direct sun, and air conditioners need more fuel to cool hot interiors.

10. Choose efficiency. A car that gets 30 mpg saves $600 a year in gas costs over one that gets 20 mpg. (We're assuming $3.00 per gallon and 15,000 miles driven.)

Word to the Wise: Imperative

An "imperative" (im-PARE-uh-tiv) is a rule, principle, or instinct that compels a certain behavior. The word is derived from the Latin "imperare" ("to command").

Example (as used in Charlie's article today ): "[The Theory of Sales Resistance] is often supported by another one of Michael's secrets: 'The Categorical Imperative.'"

[Ed. Note: Become a more persuasive writer and speaker... build your self-confidence and intellect... increase your attractiveness to others... just by spending 10 VERY enjoyable minutes a day with ETR's Words to the Wise CD Library.]
